SEASONED Counselors… MATCHED Skills…DIRECT Involvement

Cheryl McEnaney
Senior Counselor  - Strategic Arts/Marketing

Cheryl McEnaney is a Los Angeles-based strategic arts consultant who has worked in the music and entertainment industry for more than 30 years, helping creative artists develop their public profiles and reputations through innovatively targeted marketing and promotion.

McEnaney has worked since 1998 as U.S. liaison for Peter Gabriel’s highly respected Real World Records label, spending nine years with EMI North America as U.S. Label Manager for Real World, as well as serving as liaison to David Byrne’s eclectic Luaka Bop label – creating marketing initiatives, spearheading special markets development, overseeing PR and radio promotion, and working closely with sales teams in the promotion of niche genre repertoire.  Today she continues to liaise for Real World in North America, as an independent project consultant also working with assorted labels, artists and other clients.

Prior to EMI, McEnaney spent nine years as Director of Strategic Marketing & Sales for the acclaimed indie CD label Rykodisc, in Salem, Massachusetts, working closely with the Grateful Dead’s Mickey Hart on his The World music series and the first Grammy winner for World Music, PLANET DRUM.  She also creatively marketed producer Joe Boyd’s legendary Hannibal catalog, and conceived specialty marketing opportunities for products as diverse as Civil War- and baseball-related projects as well as world music.

McEnaney spent several years in Kansas City, Missouri, as Vice President of Advertising and Promotion for major event promoter New West & Contemporary Productions, overseeing marketing  & media buying for 150+ public concert events annually, and working in a five-state region.

McEnaney worked on A&M Records’ legendary Charlie Chaplin Lot in Hollywood from 1978-84, when it was still owned by label founders Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss.  She first handled International Promotion, and subsequently moved to Artist Development to work with tours and video promotion.  Her earliest work in public relations at the New England Board of Higher Education in Wellesley, Massachusetts from 1974-1978, formed the unlikely base for what has grown into a highly creative marketing and artist development career that’s crossed the continent several times.
